About Stephanie
When Stephanie Buckley asked God to "show me a career that glorifies You and
fulfills me," she had no idea her life would change so dramatically. Four months
after leaving the corporate arena, God directed Stephanie to host State of
Change, a community talks show from a Christian perspective.
A full time Christian communicator since 1999,
Stephanie is founder of State of Change,
a radio broadcast and newspaper columns featuring stories about people who have
accomplished extraordinary achievements through difficult circumstances. An
inspirational writer, speaker and seminar facilitator, Stephanie teaches others
to live intentionally through goal setting, keeping a journal and having a
relationship with Christ.
Stephanie has worked with at-risk youth since
1995. As program director for Basic Entrepreneur Empowerment Program, she taught
51 gang members and DHS recipients to see how the choices they made determined
their future. The program launched one teen-aged mom, a ninth grade drop out, in
her own clothing business. Twenty-five percent of the participants enrolled in
college and when the program ended in 1999, more than half were on their way to
getting degrees.
She is founder of
Girltalk,
a workshop for at-risk eighth and ninth graders, which teaches
self-esteem, positive choices, the importance of education and goal setting.
Administered through Junior Hospitality,
Girltalk
allows civic-minded women a chance to affect girls who lack positive role
models.
A journalist for 19 years, Stephanie earned a
Master of Art in Journalism with an emphasis in Public Relations from the
University of Oklahoma and a Bachelor of Science in Radio, Television and Film
from Oklahoma State University. She’s worked as a television producer, reporter
and anchor; radio news anchor and talks show host, newspaper reporter, editor,
columnist, and in corporate and nonprofit public relations. She is a founding
member on several nonprofit boards and has served on more than 20 boards of
directors and volunteer organizations.
